Dubai Hills Park: A Recreational Outdoor Haven in Dubai!

I have a little confession to make:

Barsha Park is no longer my favorite park in Dubai. Move aside, Barsha Park. There is a new contender in town: Dubai Hills Park. To be fair, Barsha Park is now my second favorite park, and it's great.

Dubai Hills Park is a verdant oasis located within the Dubai Hills Estate, a 2,700-acre multi-purpose development with 1,450,000 sqm of parks and open spaces, three schools, a 54 km bicycle route, and the brand new 282,000 sqm Dubai Hills Mall —now my favorite mall in Dubai as well.

Located close to Dubai Hills Mall and just a 15-minute drive from Downtown Dubai, this lush green space is Dubai's new place to be for families to explore, unwind, and chill. The park is enclosed by ultra-modern, luxurious residential buildings on both sides. I believe the company that came up with this landscape design solution for this urban park deserves all the praise it can get; Emaar's landscaping is just pristine —a work of art. The park looks stunning and serene, from the pebble-shaped benches to the artificial mini valleys.

Emaar's new 180,000 sqm park is, in fact, the best park in the entire country. Why do I make such wild claims?

Here's why:

Imagine going to a park that has the following attractions and amenities (for free with a few exceptions):

  1. Cargo Nets to relax while you close your eyes or read a book, unwind, and imagine you're in Hawaii or Maldives
  2. Sports facilities, including a basketball court, paddle tennis court, volleyball court, mini football field (merged with the basketball court), table tennis, and more
  3. Monkey bars, rock climbing walls, and a rope swing set to test your strength and endurance
  4. A cool skate park for the kids and boarders to show off their skills
  5. Outdoor Gym (I tried this with my Ultimate Ears Megaboom 3 Speaker: Perfect Combination)
  6. Running tracks that are gentle on your knees
  7. Amphitheater (Haven't tried it yet but looks fun)
  8. Luscious landscaped greens and stretches of pristine fairways with an iconic backdrop of the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai skyline
  9. Picnic lawns and beautiful hills
  10. State-of-the-art playgrounds with funky-looking and creative slides, chambers, and objects that stimulate kids' creativity and maximize their fun. They remind me of the unique, artistic playgrounds from a brand called Monstrum which designed the modern playgrounds of Expo 2020 Dubai. There's even a miniature zipline! What fun!
  11. Built-in trampolines in the playgrounds: Even I bounced on the trampolines alongside my son to bring out my inner child— I couldn't resist. These trampoline holes and hills are ultra fun (and free).
  12. A full-fledged bounce park that is super fun for kids (up till the age of 12). I have no idea what material it was made of, but it reminds me of the bouncing jelly from Tom & Jerry episodes (except it's white).
  13. An exciting splash park for the little ones to have a blast in the water while parents relax on the sandy shore! All of this is FREE!
  14. An ice rink (I haven't tried it yet and it's not free)
  15. A dog park so your pooch can let go and have some real outdoor fun

The security guards were very friendly and helpful as well. I lost my car keys as my son and I rolled down a hill. When I found out later, I approached the security guard (whose name was Rafay) and told him about my dilemma. My phone died, and to make things worse, I forgot my wallet was in the car! Rafay gave us water and looked after my child as I searched for the key, and then we both searched for the key together (after he asked other guards to look for it), and we found the keys on top of one of the hills. Even the guard at the parking entrance kept a watchful eye on my car until I found my keys. The staff provided excellent customer service and were truly amazing human beings.

Bottomline: Whether you want to go with the kids and have fun, walk the dog, go for a jog yourself, or just unwind, this park is Dubai's hottest free place, in my opinion, of course.
